Myopia (nearsightedness) usually gets worse as children grow, and higher myopia raises the risk of serious eye diseases later in life, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy. Myopia control uses specially designed lenses to slow that progression — not just correcting blurry vision, but reducing how much worse the prescription gets. Here are the three options we offer:

Option 1: Essilor Stellest Spectacle Lenses

Stellest lenses look and feel like regular glasses, but they use H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) technology — more than a thousand tiny lenslets that create a signal telling the eye to slow its growth. In a two-year U.S. clinical trial in children ages 6 to 12, Stellest slowed myopia progression by 71% and axial eye growth by 53% compared with single-vision lenses. In September 2025, Stellest became the first and only spectacle lenses authorized by the FDA to slow myopia progression in children. A great fit for younger children or any child not ready for contact lenses — nothing to insert, remove, or wear overnight.

Option 2: MiSight 1 Day Contact Lenses

MiSight 1 day lenses are soft daily disposable contacts designed specifically for myopia control. Your child puts in a fresh lens each morning and throws it away at night — no cleaning solutions or cases. In a three-year clinical trial, children wearing MiSight showed 59% less myopia progression and 52% less axial eye growth than children wearing regular single-vision contacts. MiSight was the first product FDA-approved to slow myopia progression in children, for children ages 8 to 12 when treatment begins. A great fit for active kids who play sports or prefer not to wear glasses.

Other names for orthokeratology: Ortho-k, Accelerated Ortho-K (AOK), Corneal Refractive Therapy, CRT, Gentle Vision Shaping System, or GVSS, Vision Shaping Treatment or VST.
